40 sportster oil line diagram

473 Posts. Discussion Starter · #1 · May 15, 2008. Would someone be so kind as to scan me a page out of a manual or draw a sketch of oil line routing on a 71 Ironhead. Especially interested in oil pump. Mine has nothing coming out of the front of the oil pump. Should it. Pics would be great.

Yup, I just did a image search for '1997 Sportster oil tank hose diagram' .....picked them out of the thousands of images that popped up. The internet has lots of repair info , you found your way here, that alone will save a lot of headaches..... Youtube is a good source as well, but the best info for do it yourself repairs, like the others ...

1982-1993 Sportster Oil Tank. The 82-93 tanks basically look the same cosmetically and hose connections are the same with the exception of the drain plug. The vent is the right angle nipple fitting on top of the tank (1/4" hose fitting). The return is the upper right angle nipple on the back side (3/8" hose fitting).
